ZAKYNTHOS

‘Il fiore di Levante’ (The flower of the East)

Zakynthos is the third largest island of the Ionian Islands, which makes it a unique tourist destination. The island’s magnificent beaches, the Caretta Caretta sea turtles, the spectacular city centre called ‘Chora’ with its Venetian architecture, the famous Shipwreck, the dense vegetation and the traditional sweets called ‘mandolata’ are just some of the reasons that make our island an extremely popular destination during the summer months.

Costas Hotel offers you not only a comfortable and pleasant stay but also guarantees unique travel experiences. Explore some of the most amazing destinations offered by the island of Zakynthos and let it enchant you with its unparalleled natural landscapes.

Laganas Bay

Within a stone’s throw from both our hotel and Zakynthos town you will find the lively resort of Laganas, the heart of Zakynthos. The sandy beach of the area stretches for about 9 km and has been awarded the Blue Flag award for its crystal clear waters. Explore the island’s nightlife and the different entertainment options for your night out as the area is full of beach bars, fish restaurants and nightclubs.

Kalamaki Beach

Just 700 m from Costas Hotel you will find the beach of Kalamaki, one of the most popular areas of the island of Zakynthos, which is the extension of Laganas beach. The landscape offers many different images from sandy beaches with golden sand and clear blue waters, to coniferous trees, clay cliffs and sand dunes. Zakynthos combines everything! Kalamaki beach is also a nesting destination for the Caretta Caretta sea turtles during the July-August period and is protected by the National Marine Park of Zakynthos, responsible for the preservation of the local flora and fauna.

Blue Caves

These natural geological formations were first discovered in 1897 and impress visitors with their striking blue hue, created by the interaction of the sun and the reflection of the water. The biggest of these is called the Cyan Cave (Kianoun Spileo) and can be visited by boat, swimming or canoeing.

Marathonisi

Do not miss to visit Marathonisi, the turtle-shaped island, which is the home of the protected species of the Caretta Caretta sea turtle. Ideal for a day cruise, the island is located very close to Laganas Bay. It is a protected area of both the National Marine Park of Zakynthos and the Natura 2000 programme. This paradise on earth is accessible by boat or private boat, but it is forbidden to stay there after sunset during the turtle nesting season.

Shipwreck ‘Navagio’

Start your journey in one of the most iconic and photographed places in the world. The ‘Navagio’, or ‘Panagiotis’, the ship that sank off the coast of Zakynthos in 1980, stands out amidst crystal clear turquoise waters and steep white cliffs that hug the sandy shores. A sight to remember!

Agios Sostis Beach

Within a short distance from Costas Hotel, you will find one of the most impressive beaches of Zakynthos, known for its shallow waters. Here you can dive into the turquoise waters of the Mediterranean Sea, lie along the shore and enjoy the view of Marathonisi or simply indulge in the relaxing atmosphere of this lovely resort.

Zakynthos Town

The charming Zakynthos town, also called ‘Chora’, where Venetian architecture meets the crystal clear waters of the Ionian Sea, is located on the eastern side of the island and is a place where history, cultural heritage and natural beauty blend harmoniously. Wander through the picturesque streets with the traditional Venetian buildings and the numerous museums. Explore the main square, where you will discover cute cafes and traditional taverns to get a taste of Zakynthian hospitality. Don’t miss the chance to enjoy traditional local products such as Zakynthos’ famous olive oil, fine wines and the famous nougat called ‘mandolato’.
